Dear Hungry Girl,
Any ideas for livening up that dieting staple -- canned tuna? Light mayo is so boring, pickle relish gives me heartburn, and straight mustard is not something I like all that much... Help!
Signed,
Wanna Be called Skinny-Winny Fishtail (Again)
Dear Wanna Be,
You're fed up with tuna, aren't you?! I loooove canned tuna. So much so that I often eat it plain -- with nothing on it at all (and sometimes straight from the can -- shhhhhh!). But I do have LOTS of ways to add zazzle to tuna, without adding lots of extra calories. And not just with plain old light mayo, either (which, BTW, I also like). My new favorite way to eat tuna is with Vivi's Original Sauce. I wrote about this stuff a while back -- it completely and totally ROCKS. But it's sort of like a mustard, a relish and a salsa all rolled into one -- so I'm afraid that might give you heartburn (for those of you who aren't prone to relish-related heartburn -- GO FOR IT!!!). I also looooove to mix Dijonnaise into my tuna (it's like a mustard/mayo combo with 15 calories a tablespoon). Fage Total 0% Greek Yogurt is also fantastic in tuna, as is a little fat-free cottage cheese (really -- it's GREAT). Chopping up broccoli cole slaw (shredded broccoli, carrots and purple cabbage) and tossing that into tuna is another thing I like to do. Still need more tuna ideas? How about mixing it with salsa and/or a little fat-free sour cream -- or your favorite Wish-Bone Salad Spritzers dressing? Ok, that's all I got. Best fishes (sorry, couldn't resist)!
